We are just like you

We are Owen and Anthony, two busy expat professionals in our thirties based in Singapore who – when we’re not working hard – enjoy sport, adventure and hanging out and travelling with our mates.

Having lived in Asia Pacific for 20+years between us, we had been on many stag weekends, bachelor parties, sports tours, football tournaments, and party weekends away with our mates. We would attend or organise at least a couple football tours and tournaments every year as well as regular stag parties. We also enjoyed a weekend away of partying with our mates – many of whom lived in different cities in Asia Pacific – at least a few times a year just to take a break from city life.

And, then there were the best man duties: between us we have been ‘best man’ for different mates 7 times and planned a stag party or weekend for every one of them. Being based in Singapore, destinations for all these activities included Phuket, Bangkok, Bali, Jakarta, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Macau.

How did it all begin?

We knew how hard it was to plan a big event with a bunch of guys (some of them flaky, others indecisive, some quite choosy, and all of them with a strong opinion) and keep everyone happy. There are loads of issues to deal with:

• Figuring out who’s actually coming
• Finding the best things to do in an unfamiliar location
• Booking unique and exciting activities
• Dealing with unreliable suppliers who have a limited knowledge of English
• Avoiding getting ripped off by disreputable companies and individuals
• Getting entry to the best clubs in town
• Finding the best places for a large group of guys to eat, drink and party
• Collecting payment from everyone
• Finding and booking high quality accommodation
• Dealing with late dropouts

We know how hard it was to keep people happy. But at the end of day, when it all comes together, we have had some unforgettable experiences with our mates across Asia Pacific. And we wouldn’t swap that for anything.

And that’s why we started Ludih.

What does Ludih do?

We wanted to help people just like us enjoy the high-life combined with unique and unforgettable experiences that this amazing part of the world has to offer. And we wanted to take all the hassle out of planning and organising trips, tours, and events for a group of guys. Wouldn’t it be great if someone else could take care of all the planning? How cool would it be if we could just tell someone else what we wanted to do and let them take care of everything so that we just pay and show up?

And that’s exactly what Ludih does. In a big group of young expats, spending power is varied and sometimes limited. That’s why we believe it is fundamentally important to give our customers all of this for the same price they would pay if they were dealing directly with the suppliers themselves.

Ludih was founded to meet these very real needs to busy professionals and expatriates wanting the ultimate in party experiences without the hassle of organising anything. About Ludih’s Founders

Ludih’s founders are Owen and Anthony. Both are thirty-something busy expat professionals living and working in Singapore. They met in 2003 playing football for the same amateur football in Singapore.

Owen

From the UK, Owen graduated with a degree in Sport Science. He began his working life coaching soccer for the academy team at a leading Premier League football club in the UK. His soccer coaching career flourished and brought him to Singapore in the early 2000’s where he ran a soccer academy in Singapore. His other hobbies include boxing, golf, and a sadistic painful love affair with Liverpool F.C.

Anthony

From the UK, Anthony graduated with a degree in Engineering and Design and began work as a management consultant in Asia Pacific in 1995. He has lived in several cities in Asia Pacific with his most significant stints of residence being Singapore and Hong Kong where he spent a combined total of 14 years. His interests outside Ludih include football, golf and (of course) travel and adventure.

What’s been happening lately?

2011 was the year that business really took off for Ludih. We planned and ran events for hundreds of people from all over the world. Highlights include:

• Loads of stag parties and bucks parties for hundreds of people from Sydney, London, Tokyo, and New York in Bali and Phuket which featured villa parties, yacht trips, quad biking, ATV safaris, and tandem bungee jumps with Ladyboys.
• A 10-day soccer tour of Singapore for a 35-person Lloyd’s F.C. touring party (the football team which represents Lloyd’s of London) featuring games against Singapore S-League Champions, Singapore National Team Under-21s, Singapore Cricket Club and multiple recreational activities including golf, horse racing, and more than one night out!
• A tour of Japan for Singapore Cricket Club’s first team featuring games against Yokohama Country Club and a youth team from Yokohama Marinos.

We have been blown away by the feedback we have received from our customers.

In 2012 we have gone from strength to strength. The mainstay of business – organising stag weekends for expatriates in Asia Pacific and people who are getting married in Phuket or Bali – has just grown faster than our expectations. We are so pleased with how people continue to love what we do that we have invested in our business and grown to a organisation with 6 regular employees with staff located in Singapore, Bali, and Phuket. We have also established a network of over 50 suppliers of great parties and stag weekends.

What does the future hold?

We are already growing significantly in 2012. Demand for stag parties and bucks parties in our founding locations of Bali and Phuket has been extremely strong. By the end of March 2012 we were already approaching the volume of business we did in the entire year of 2011.

In 2012, we will open up new locations in Bangkok and Batam in the middle of the year. We are constantly on the look out for other locations that are popular for Stag parties where we can add value.

With regard to new products, we’re exploring how we can give you unique and unforgettable experiences without the hassle of organising anything at large international sporting events. At the moment we’re looking at  prestigious events such as the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, and the English Premier League.
