We’ll pick you up at your villa and it’s a short 15-minute bus journey in our air-conditioned coach to the ATV site.
We’ll provide you all the safety gear you need and plenty of water for the whole trip.
The bikes are the real deal. These imported 4-wheelers with a 5-speed semi-automatic gearbox are beasts. After a safety briefing, you’ll quickly find yourself beginning your ascent of the mountain. You’ll be flying up up the hill as fast you can, trying to keep control of the quad bike as you bounce around the rough terrain.
And don’t think this is an easy ride. This is dangerous! If you’re not careful, you can easily cause damage to yourself or the bike. Consider yourself warned.
Upon completing the ascent of the mountain, you’ll pause at the summit for some light refreshments while you enjoy the stunning vista of Patong Bay and beyond. It really is a spectacular sight and only accessible by ATV. Then you’ll begin your descent. This can get quick and very hairy. If you’re not careful you will be at risk of an accident. Take it easy.
You’ll cover around 10 km of mainly steep and tight dirt tracks that wind their way through the jungle and plantations in the mountains between Patong and Kamala.
When you finally stumble back, we’ll have an ice cold beer waiting for you before you jump back on Ludih’s air-conditioned bus where you’ll enjoy a few more beers.

Questions and Answers
Where is it?
You start from Kathu which sits at the foot of the mountains behind Patong and to the south of Kamala. This is a 15 – 20 minute journey from Patong or Kamala.
What should I wear and bring?
You need to bring the following:
– Clothes to wear on the quad bikes. Long trousers and a t-shirt are fine.– Closed shoes (don’t wear no flip flops or sandals with open fronts)– Glasses or goggles or other form of eye protection from dustExpect to get dirty so don’t wear anything that you’re attached too. Certainly not the gear you want to wear out that night!
What safety equipment is provided?
– HelmetNote: we recommend you wear closed shoes and bring some form of eye protection/ sunglasses/ goggles to protect your eyes from the dust.
Do I need to bring any glasses or goggles?
This is not essential but we would recommend that you bring your own goggles or sunglasses or other form of eye protection. It can be very dusty in dry weather and obviously very muddy in the wet. We’d recommend that you wear some form if eye protection to avoid getting dust or dirt in your eyes.
Can I wear flip flops?
No. Flip flops don’t provide adequate protection for your feet. And you’ll also have difficulty changing gear. You should wear closed shoes with laces. E.g. Running shoes. But will you get some mud or dirt on them so don’t wear the shoes you plan to wear out to the nightclub later the same night.
How dirty will I get?
This depends largely on the weather. If it’s been raining you’ll get mud splashed on your clothing. In dry weather, there’ll be no mud, just dust.
Is it dangerous?
Yes. If you go too fast, or are reckless, or don’t even pay due attention or care, you can very easily injure yourself seriously or even fatally. Although this very rarely happens. Pay attention to the safety instruction, pay attention to what’s around around you and other drivers. Drive safely and follow your guides and you and your crew will have a great time.
How many people can ride at once?
There are 15 ATVs so 15 people can ride at the same time. Larger groups can be split into 2 and one group can wait at the base camp whilst the others ride. There is a go-kart circuit within short walking distance of the ATV base camp. The half of the group not riding can, if they wish, walk across the go-kart track and do a few laps there while they wait.
What bikes are they?
Imported 4-wheel drive Kawasaki All Terrain Vehicles. Equipped with a semi-automatic 5-speed gearbox.
How long is the safari in total?
Around 1 hour 15 minutes in total. There is a photo stop and refreshment break at the summit around the mid-point of the ride.
Are there lockers for valuables?
Yes. You can leave valuables in the lockers provided at the quad bike site.
Are showers provided?
Is lunch provided?
No. Please eat before we pick you up.
Is insurance provided?
Yes. In the event of a genuine accident personal insurance is provided. However, if the accident is deemed to have occurred to your own negligence or recklessness or lack of due care and attention, you’re not covered. Consider yourself warned!.
